Foster homes provide temporary care for animals in need until permanent homes can be found for them. Some animals may be too young for adoption, or may be sick or injured, or are too stressed by the kennel environment to remain healthy. Foster homes help animal learn to trust and bond with humans, sometimes for the first time in their entire lives, as well as helping the shelters by freeing up space for other lost or abandoned pets that come into their care. The timeline for adoption can run from a few days to a few weeks and as the animal rescue agencies generally pay for the associated expenses, fostering is a great low-cost way to really make a difference in the lives of animals in your community.
