Online dating can be fraught with pitfalls. You may have a lot in common with someone on paper but have no connection at all in person. And you never can tell when you’re talking to someone if they really are who they say they are. That’s not to say that it never works. I know a few people who met their partners online who have been with them for several years now and are quite happy with them. But it doesn’t always work that way.
Unfortunately there are also those who see online dating as a magical fix-all to lead them (or that person in their lives that they feel really should “meet a nice person and settle down”) down the path to wedded bliss. There’s nothing wrong with not being in a relationship. Sometimes we just have other priorities in life that we’d rather focus on for a while. But if you are ready, be open, not just to new people but to new activities as well. You never know who you will meet or what new passions you might discover.
